Medicare Health Insurance refers to the insurance scheme set up by the Federal Government of the United States to ensure that the major health needs of senior citizens and some other categories of people, including those with permanent disability are well taken care of. This scheme ensures that this group of people are not excluded from good health if they have no one to take care of them. Under the laws of the United States, recognized senior citizens are those aged above 65 years while people with permanent disability will need to be certified by a Medical expert in order to be eligible for Medicare Health Insurance benefits. Also, people diagnosed with acute renal and kidney ailments or those needing regular dialysis, without any form of help are considered eligible for this scheme.
Medicare is also a common practice in some countries like Canada and Australia, though with slightly different delivery modes and eligibility requirements. Medicare Health Insurance in the United States is broken down into four major areas which covers specific health needs and benefits for the eligible individuals. This article will outline in detail the actual coverage benefits that can be enjoyed in each part within the Medicare Health Insurance plan.
Part A- Hospital Insurance
This is the aspect of Medicare Health Insurance that caters for the major needs of patients admitted in hospital, including the nursing care that they receive. Coverage benefits can extend to laboratory tests, blood transfusion limited to generally available blood groups and normal surgeries. It must be noted that hospitalization and some of the services mentioned above under this part of Medicare Health Insurance may be suspended after extended periods of time. Though, patients eligible for this part would not be required to pay for any services enjoyed during the coverage period.
